Shrimp and Okra Gumbo


2 lb shrimp
2 lb okra (sliced)
2 medium onion chopped
1/4 c chopped bell pepper
1/4 c chopped celery
4 Tbsp oil
1 can(s) small tomato sauce
2 c water, warm
salt and pepper to taste


1. Mix okra, onions, bell pepper and celery in oil and smother for 30 minutes.
2. Add tomato sauce and water.
3. Add shrimp and season to taste.
4. Cook about 15 minutes. Can also add water, as needed, if consistency is too thick.
5. Serve with cooked rice.
